Antique Victorian Bulldog brooch. 9ct yellow gold. Made in the United Kingdom, 19th century. Unisex - suitable for a man or a woman.

Measurements: Weight is 8.2 grams. Total length from tail to muzzle is approximately 1 1/3 inches (3cm).

Description : Bulldog standing in profile is naturalistically modelled, showing off his muscles and a textured coat. The pin at the back with hinge on one side and sturdy double clasp with locking lever on the other. All done in 9ct gold and all original.

Marks and Metal: Hidden in the texture of the dog's coat, are the marks: 9 and 375, all of which stand for 9ct gold.

THE STORY: like today, the English were passionate dog lovers during the Victorian era. The Queen herself was never seen in private without being accompanied by Dash, her beloved Cavalier King Charles Spaniel.
